How to conduct a research on opportunities

To gain a strong presence on the internet market place you need to conduct a research for relevant keywords that is in high demand. After you have come up with your unique idea, and are looking forward to creating a rich content site that users will find interesting to visit, it is important that you use the available research tool to narrow your keywords to those that is high in demand before you create your valued content pages.

The following steps will help you track your keywords for demand and supply. But before you begin, Open Microsoft excel and create four columns with the following headings. Keyword, Demand, Supply and Website Info. You will be using the columns to store your researched information as we move on.

1. Populate http://www.7search.com/scripts/advertiser/sample_get.asp: We are going to use an example to illustrate how this is done – Let’s say you are an exercise expert and you understand the ins and outs of the body building business. You intend to develop relevant content website for delivering effective body building tips. Using exercise as your keyword may be to general to create a content around or even when you do, you may be overwhelmed by competition you will get. But it is a good start point – Type “exercise” in the search bar and check the result – there are lots of exercise’s result that the engine returns. Narrow the search down a little by clicking on the one you are going to use or better still if you’ve a unique area you are interested in, type it in and check the result. The values you get under searches column tells you how many people check for that keywords daily. The values you get should be entered in the demand window in your excel sheet. Take five top values and enter it in the relevant column, row by row.

2. Next move on to google.com: You can use other search engines to check this out if you want, but I prefer using Google for my research. Now what you will be doing here is searching for the number of websites that currently supply these information online. Take each of the keyword under your demand window and use google.com to search it. The number of result e.g. “Results 1 - 10 of about 4,770 for Keyword Searches” Also record the at least ten of that result in the relevant supply column row by row. This values tells you the number of site that currently offering the services you are looking at.

3. Move on to complete the Website Info column: Now that you have the relevant demand and supply all laid out, it time to start visiting the website result that google.com returned. Visit a least ten of the returned websites and document certain unique features in a summary form under website info , you may get some ideas for your content website as you move on. Do this for the five relevant keywords , it may be a little bit tedious but it is worth every bit of the trouble. Analyze this sites, from the heading to the content to the orientation, anything worth noting is good for your content website research.

4. The final section would be to infer: Use this search result to infer which keywords has high demand and very little supply result returned. These will be your most sort after keywords for you to build your website pages around. Also note you may want to exceed the five top result returned up , it is all up to you. By creating your website around such relevant keywords you will get the most wanted response when you build your pages around them.
